In addition to theoretical research, I am exploring methods to realize resulting designs using various materials.
Wood
In collaboration with Kurt Wettstein and Alfonso Parra-Rubio, we are experimenting with folding laser-cutted creases on wood veneer. Some of the work was conducted in the inspiring atmosphere at Haystack Labs 2023.
Aluminium Composite
In collaboration with the RnKOLEKTIVE, we fabricated large-scale kusudama structures from Hylite, an aluminium-polypropylene sandwich material, which were on display during summer 2023 at the MIT media lab.
Slate veneer
With Kurt Wettstein, we recently started experimenting with other veneer types such as slate.
Yupo Paper (Polypropylene)
Together with Kanata Warisaya we fabricated “Hexagonal Conic Spiral Polyhedron with Joints” from Yupo, which was on display during the Symposium on Origami Bridging Art Science and Industry 2024 at the University of Tokyo, Japan.
