Vesica Piscis

Joint work with Susan Latham and Tony Wills.

Vesica Piscis is a shape that consists of two overlapping circles such that one circle passes through the center of the other. Folding this shape along the inner circle segments such that the outer segments can be glued together results in a closed shape, the folded Vesica Piscis. Our mathematical investigations were inspired by Susan Latham’s sculpture Attraction that consists of two folded Vesica Pisces. Read more in our paper or check out Lotus, a curved folding design tool that can be used to reconstruct the folded Vesica Piscis in Rhino.
